Terms
Last updated 17 August 2026
These terms cover the Showling app and this website. Showling is in development and not yet publicly available; these terms will be finalised before any public release. If you don't accept them, don't use the service.
Who may use Showling
Accounts are for adults. You must be 18 or over to create one, to buy anything, and to approve what a child in your care is shown. Children use the app only through an adult's account, in child mode, and only with content that adult has approved. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your sign-in details and your parent-mode passcode to yourself.
Credits and payment
Making a show costs credits, which are bought in advance. Credits are held when you request something and charged when it is delivered; if we fail to deliver, the hold is released. Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred between accounts and cannot be exchanged for money. Prices are shown before you buy.
Purchases made inside the app are processed by Apple under Apple's terms, and refund requests for those go to Apple. Purchases made on the web are processed by our payment provider. Nothing here affects the statutory rights of a consumer, including any right to cancel — though a show you asked us to make and that we then made is a service performed at your request.
What you may do with what you make
Shows made for your account are yours to watch, at home, with the children in your care, for as long as your account exists. You may not sell them, broadcast them, publish them, or use them commercially, and you may not extract, copy or redistribute the underlying material. We keep ownership of the app, the characters, the artwork and everything else we bring to it.
We may use what you request, and what is produced, to run and improve the service — including reusing generated material to make the service faster and cheaper for everyone.
What you may ask for
Requests must be suitable for a small child. Don't ask for anything violent, sexual, hateful, frightening, illegal, or designed to depict a real person. Don't ask us to reproduce characters, brands or stories owned by somebody else. Don't try to get around the safety checks. We screen requests automatically and may refuse any of them; repeated attempts to push past a refusal may end your account.
Automatically generated content
Shows are produced by machine-learning systems. They are not reviewed by a human before they reach you, they will sometimes be strange or wrong, and no two are the same. That is why nothing reaches child mode until an adult has approved it — that approval is yours to give, and the responsibility that comes with it is yours too. Please report anything unsuitable to [email protected].
Availability
We'll try to keep Showling running, but we don't promise it will always be available or free of faults, and we may change, suspend or withdraw features. If we discontinue the service entirely, we'll give reasonable notice and won't leave unused credits unaccounted for.
Ending it
You may stop using Showling and delete your account at any time; see support. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is being used to endanger a child, or that we are required to close by law.
Liability
Showling is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be dated here and, where it matters, notified in the app. Continuing to use Showling after a change means you accept it.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws where you live.
